A local arcade was throwing out some old, damaged cabinets and had set them on the side of the road for arcade enthusiasts to pick up. I was fortunate enough to snag two Nintendo cabinets, one an empty blue Donkey Kong (that had been converted to a VS Top Gun, boards had been sold to a friend) and the other an empty red Donkey Kong 3 (that had also been converted to a VS Golf). I have always loved the original Mario Bros. and decided that one of these machines needed to run that game. After a little bit of eBay-ing and talking with a friend, I had a board set, control panel, marquee, bezel, and monitor. After installing everything in the red DK3 cabinet, I decided that I liked the idea of Mario Bros. in red. The blue DK cabinet is currently being refurbished to become the new home of Mario Bros. Progress on that project can be seen here.
